Loring Hall
Loring Hall is our largest student accommodation site and located on campus in New Cross. The nearest train station is New Cross Gate.
What's it like here?
Loring Hall is home to our largest student community, spread over seven blocks with a shared outdoor space.
All of our accommodation is self-catering. Rooms are single en suite and arranged in flats with up to 8 students sharing a kitchen. A limited number of smaller flats (4-6 students) are also available and rooms in this section are being refurbished over summer 2026.
Undergraduate, Study Abroad and some postgraduate students live here. You can expect to live with students of different nationalities and from different degrees, but we’ll try and house you with people of a similar age.
Room types available
- En suite (Single occupancy bedroom with private bathroom and shared kitchen)
- En suite (new area) (Refurbished single occupancy bedroom with private bathroom and shared kitchen)
- En suite large (Single occupancy bedroom with private bathroom and shared kitchen)
- Our variable rates will be applied to Study Abroad, Turing and Erasmus students visiting for one or two terms.

Loring Hall also has accessible rooms. Contact Accommodation Services to find out more about these.
Wi-Fi
Free wireless internet (Wi-Fi) is available across campus (including in Loring Hall) via our secure eduroam service maintained by our IT team. Please note, the colleges standard of hardware is capable of up to 1Gbps, however speeds on campus may vary and wired internet is not available.
As eduroam is managed centrally by the University and not specific to our student accommodation, we do not currently have verified average broadband speeds for peak usage hours (8am to 10pm) specific to Loring Hall.
In the meantime, please note eduroam is suitable for most study purposes, but may not be adequate for gaming and other leisure activities.

Refurbishment works
During the 2025-26 academic year, essential internal maintenance repairs across the seven buildings which make up Loring Hall are due to take place.
The main works within each flat should take around 2–3 weeks, during which, some noise and disruption are to be expected.
Our priority is to minimise any disruption or inconvenience to students, and we will ensure residents are kept regularly updated as more information becomes available.
