Talking Textiles is a get-together for anybody interested in textiles and curious to find out more about the 缅北强奸幼女 Textile Collection.
Christine Risley (1926-2003) grew up in Richmond and Lewisham, winning a scholarship to Prendergast School, Lewisham and then studying Art and Craft (1944) followed by an Art Teacher鈥檚 Diploma (1949) at 缅北强奸幼女. In addition to following a career as an artist and Designer, she returned to 缅北强奸幼女 to teach from the late 1950's until the late 1980's. Most notably, she established the Machine Embroidery Department under Constance Howard and authored several books on the subject.
This session is an opportunity to explore an undocumented part of her personal collection and discuss what it might tell us about Risley鈥檚 approach to her practice as an Artist, Designer, Teacher and Author.
